How to Be Saved

God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth loves you. And you can be sure of this, for the Bible says so. God wants you to have a deep and personal relationship with Him, and He made the way through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are all born with original sin. The Bible says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23 NIV). This means we have ALL missed the mark, we've ALL sinned, and therefore we ALL need a Savior. The wonderful message of salvation is that God the Father loved the world so much that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ into the world (John 3:16) to die for our sins so that all who believe and follow Jesus can have eternal life. Not only that, God wants to be with you every step of the way in this life.

It’s important to understand that God has made us eternal beings. The Bible teaches that you are an eternal spirit, you have a soul (this can be referred to as your mind, your will, and emotions), and you live in a body. The body we have is only temporary, but the spirit is eternal. The Bible also teaches that when someone dies, their spirit will either go to heaven or hell. Heaven is a real place, and hell is a real place. Heaven is an amazing and glorious place that God created for his people to be with Him for all eternity, and hell is a place that God created for the devil and his angels, a place of horrible torment where there is no second chance of being saved. However, when one does not accept the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, they are in danger of the fire of hell. God does not want people to go to hell! After death a person’s eternal fate is sealed, so being right with God is critical...the decision you make about repenting and inviting Jesus Christ into your heart as your Savior and Lord will affect your eternal destiny.

Jesus said "I Am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14: 6 NIV). In speaking of Jesus the Bible also says "There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 NLT). It's very simple...Jesus is the only way to be saved. However, it's not just getting saved from hell that a personal relationship with Jesus will do for us. Jesus said He would be with us always (Matthew 28:20) and through everything we face in life. Through faith in Jesus He will strengthen us when we are weak, encourage us when we are down, heal us when we are sick, provide for us when we are in need, speak to us, guide us, protect us, give us wisdom, answer prayer, and will even be our friend. Jesus truly loves you!

God has a wonderful, specific plan for your life. It is something He has especially for you. To walk in that plan means success, and to not walk in that plan means failure, no matter how much worldly acclaim and riches someone achieves!

Maybe you've rarely gone to church, or maybe even you've been going to church all your life - but never asked Jesus into your heart in a personal way. Church is important, however church membership will not save us...it's only through a true and sincere repentance of sin along with a personal invitation of Jesus Christ into your heart as your Savior and Lord. This is what it means to be born again (John 3:3). Upon accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, that person's spirit is then made brand new by Jesus through the Holy Spirit and is born again. In this miraculous process Jesus makes His home in the believer's heart through His Holy Spirit - that's when we become a saved child of God and part of His family. God loves you so much and He wants a life long and eternal relationship with you.

The Bible says "If you declare with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved" (Romans 10:9-10 NIV). 

If you have never taken the critical step of giving your heart and life to Jesus in a personal way, I encourage you not to wait another minute. If you want to be saved and are ready to ask Jesus Christ into your heart and fully commit your life to Him, please pray this prayer with all your heart...

"Lord Jesus, I come to you right now in faith and with all my heart. I believe that You are the Son of God. I have sinned against God, and I repent today. I believe that You came and died for my sins, and I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. I ask that you would come into my heart right now and forgive me of all my sins. I declare that Jesus is Lord, and from this day forward that You are the Savior and Lord of my life. I thank You Jesus for all that You have done for me and I receive the salvation that you purchased for me on the cross. I forgive everyone who has hurt or offended me, and I ask for the strength to do my very best to follow and love God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, and all my strength. I also ask that You would guide and help me to follow Your perfect will and plans for my life - In Jesus name, Amen."

If you prayed that prayer for the very first time and truly gave your heart and life to Jesus Christ and confessed Him as your Lord and Savior, according to the Bible YOU ARE SAVED AND GOING TO HEAVEN! You can thank God every day for making this day possible, and you can get ready for God to do some amazing things in your life!
